New Beginnings Family Law welcomed Lauren McLaughlin to our team of attorneys in 2026.
Lauren McLaughlin was born and raised in Leonville, Louisiana. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Northwestern State University in Louisiana, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in History. While attending Northwestern State University, Lauren was an active member in various organizations on campus, including being the External Affairs Commissioner of the Student Government Association, Academic Chair of Phi Mu Fraternity, as well as a member of the University Programming Council, Purple Jacket Honor Society, Blue Key Honor Society, the pre-law society Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. During her collegiate years, Lauren also gave back to her community, volunteering at local womens’ shelters and raising money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through her sorority. After graduating from Northwestern State University, Lauren attended Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law to pursue her law degree. While in law school, Lauren put an emphasis on honing her courtroom skills, becoming an active member of Cumberland’s National Trial Team. During her time on trial team, Lauren finished as a semifinalist at the Trials and Tribulations Trial Competition and the Verdict Trial Competition, as well as winning the regional competition of the American Association of Justice’s Trial Competition. Lauren also served as the Trial Board’s Public Relations Chair in her final year at Cumberland.
Lauren used her time in law school to gain a variety of legal experience. She has worked in the areas of mass torts, personal injury, and at the district attorney’s office. After practing in the field of personal injury for a year, Lauren decided to pivot into family law, an area where she knew she could make a difference.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys to cook, try new restaurants, and binge documentaries with her husband Frank and their cats, Ada and Linus, and their dog, Knox.
